- Most Homes built in NH before 1970 have an ACH of 4-5/hr, that’s where the curtains blow in the wind. Homes built under the energy codes of the last 30 years have an ACH of +/- 2 ACH. The Energy Star program is trying to get builders to achieve an ACH of 1.25 for new construction. Existing home owners I’m sorry to say you’re on your own, not really but you need to want the improvements. There is rebate money from the Power Company as well as the Feds.
